Sunday Stills - Powerlines and Landscapes

Well isn't it always wonderful to see a beautiful sunset or sky and have powerlines and road signs and all manner of other things interrupt our photographs? Well here are my two top pics for this weeks challenge. By the way, I did absolutely no editing on either of these photos. I can't believe the color I captured in the first sunset!
Here's the blurb for this week:
"Sunday Stills the next challenge: Powerlines and Landscapes
I was attempting to photograph the sunrise this morning and would’nt ya know it the darn powerlines were everywhere, which brings us to the next challenge. If you can’t beat it use it, since power lines are a photographers worst nightmare lets use this to our advantage. So find a cool landscape, sunrise, that would look great except it needs the dreaded powerlines to mess it up, and throw in a bilboard too, they are just as bad..:-)
I’ll include a pic with this challenge so you get the idea.
Have fun…Ed"

Sunday Stills - Yellow

Well as you can see the topic for this weeks challenge was the color yellow. I had many, many, many photos to choose from but these are the ones I liked best! The top flower and the Sun are from my sister's house. The bird and the other two flowers were taken at Germantown Nature Center on Friday evening. I hope you all had fun and enjoy!
Here's the blurb, short as it is ;}
"Sunday Stills the next Challenge: The color Yellow
This should be pretty easy, I have a headache today and a bad connection in Mississippi so I have to make this short .
Happy hunting..Ed"

First off I’d like to thank everyone who participates in this challenge. I never thought we would have such a weekly turnout, there are many weekly challenges and I’m humbled that so many folks follow this one and we are picking up new folks every week from all over the world, not just the U.S. and Canada but now we have folks from Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands and England. I just hope I can keep coming up with interesting challenges to keep ya’ll occupied. So with that in mind THANK YOU all!!
Now on to business, by now there should be some greenery in just about everywhere, so lets shoot some flowers and plants for the folks without flowers…:-)
See ya’ll next week. I’m off to get a few pics ready for my Monday Macro post for tomorrow at Thoughts from the Road http://edprescott.wordpress.com/ if ya get a sec stop by and say hello.
Later….Ed"

Sunday Stills - Barns

Well at first I wasn't sure what to do for this challenge. I live in the city so its hard to find barns and I have to drive a little to get to them. So I ended up pulling two, the top black and white ones, from my archives. The other two are the ones I ended up getting this week. The first two photos were taken with my 35mm with black and white film, no editing here, and they were at my Grandma's house in my hometown of Peebles. The third photo was an old barn around Germantown that we happened to pass and I liked the old light coming out from the side of the barn. The fourth photo is the one that gave me the greatest joy, because I was just turning around in someones driveway outside of Germantown when I looked into my side view mirror and I knew this was the shot I wanted.

Here's the blurb from this weeks challenge:

For this challenge try to look beyond the typical barn shot, if possible get inside, get different angles, things in barns etc… Did I just hear a cheer go up???
Have fun and see ya next Sunday…Ed"

Germantown MetroPark and Cox Arboretum

Well I have certainly taken my camera out for a spin the last few days. Here are some of the photos I got. I got tons of flower ones too, but I figured everyone has seen those to death since it's spring :}. I am pretty proud of my photos and I love my new camera! The last one was taken farther away than what I wanted but when Tony tried to get closer it ran up the tree and we really couldn't get a better photo. Oh well I got some good shots!!
